Assorted French TNs (August 2025-January 2026)

So interesting regarding the 2012 La Grande Colline Cornas. The one bottle I had years ago was a gout de souris disaster. Glad you got a good bottle.

What did you buy a case of this year?

I bought two cases of Richard Rottiers Moulin a Vent -- one of the 2022 Thorins, and one 2023 Dernier Souffle. I really enjoy these wines. And I faultlessly bought one case of 2018 Clos Cibonne Tibouren Cuvée Spéciale des Vignettes at auction for a very low price, only bidder, Eden-style. I...

    This and That.

As Jeff lays out above, "Dull When Put In Mouth". I'm with you both on Bitchin' Carmarans and the price point. I thought Alive was interesting but have preferred other wines in Gravillas's portfolio.

    TN: N. Rhone 1999 (Oct. 12, 2025)

This was so fun, what a great evening. I posted this on the other bored: Wow! A lot of great wines. I think we all expected the 99 Verset and 99 Allemand magnums to reign supreme, but the wines that showed best to me were the 99 Barge and 99 Gallet - both were so in the zone, the Gallet being...

What a crazy world - Clos Rougeard prices

The magnitude of the opportunity cost matters. A few hundred dollars won't change my life; $300,000 would.

    The Beaujolais TN thread

2018 Richard Rottiers Moulin-a-Vent Champ de Cour last night was lovely - fresh, nicely proportioned, delicious. 12.5% abv, if memory serves me. Thanks to comrade Brézème for the Rottiers tip.

Nice that you still have (had?) some of this Gravillas. I drank all of mine some time ago, and also a bottle of the 2023 in Paris over the xmas holidays (just as good as 2022). Haven't seen this particular wine stateside since CSW's first offering.

Late breaker: Tour de France in Macon, Chassagne, and Meursault tomorrow, Nuits Friday

I have been watching it via a dodgy streaming site, which has the benefit of being able to avoid the American broadcast.

    Northern Rhone TNs (May 2025)

I agree. I prefer 1998 to 1999 in general. A recent large Northern Rhone dinner had the 98 Gallet, 98 Barge Cote Brune, and 98 Jamet Cote Brune as showstoppers.

    Northern Rhone TNs (May 2025)

Great notes Yule! Lots of good-sounding wines. I was "not bad" on the 2001 Chave, damning with faint praise. My notes from that evening: https://www.cellartracker.com/event.asp?iEvent=57599

Glad you're still enjoying the Gravillas; I drank the last of mine some time ago. I am not sure if Chambers Street ever brought in the 2023, but if they do I would surely buy some.
