    Carbonic Maceration

I'm also a fan of the sparkling Dilettante. But maybe it's just my youthful nature...

    Puffeney, the Magic Dragon

Probably trying to get enough off to sample for drugs. Seriously. I really, really hope my Oregon distributor comes through with the 07. We've been getting seriously shorted on the Arbois out here in the Pacific Northwest.

    Tried the Chardonnay?

    Selosse gets controversial on acidity

I'll go with vs on this. I recently sat down to a plate of cured and smoked sardines finished with warm olive oil. We paired it with Argueso Manzanilla. It rocked. Sherry is great with rich and oily seafood, as is sake, but neither have the acidity of wine.

Tissot Pinot, Guion Bourgueil, Alessi Alberto's Vineyard

Me too, among other problems. I've opened several bottles of his 06 Poulsard to find them oddly funkified in the finish. Everything seemed alright, but then the tannins turned overwhelmingly bitter. Sounds like Oswaldo found a similar issue with the Pinot Noir. I'm looking forward to tasting the...

    I just don't get Aligot

I was going to mention Goisot. I've had more than a few examples from a range of vintages and I'm always quite satisfied. I've never had an aged example though. And just to drift into cortese, I've liked Degli Ulivi's wine's quite a bit.

    I just don't get Aligot

Try pouring a little Crme de Cassis in there...

    Asimov Suplexes '07 Chateauneuf

I agree with Asimov on this one. I went to a 2007 tasting a few months ago and had very similar misgivings. 07 will, on the other hand, sell well in restaurants and retail. They have the two-fold value of being endorsed by Parker and being rich with fruit and alcohol. I thought the question of...

So, what do people think of Cedric Bouchard?

I hear he is working on making a still pinot noir.

So, what do people think of Cedric Bouchard?

I like Bouchard's wines quite a bit, but they are drastically different from most champagnes. Bright, clean, fresh and ripe, they express the strengths and weaknesses of his plots. Each bottling is different, and in that way interesting. They achieve a balance that is quite their own. Not a...

After my ode to Beaujolais, a couple hard betrayals

I've had numerous 07 Foillards without much brett at all. New barrels?

    Finally, an explanation

I've drank a few beers in the Lutz myself. I'm not sure how the leap from the Lutz to PBR's current hipness happened. The influence of The Lutz in this transformation seems a tad overstated by the article. Particularly the references to the Lutz and indy-rockers, bike messengers and skaters. The...

    09 Beaujolais Nouveau

Well, just to spitball, a poor vintage would be comprised of lesser grapes. Grapes that are, in turn, either sold off to negociants or just made into quickly fermented adult Kool-aid. Bad vintage = lots of juice needing some place to go.

    Ribeira Sacra

"Via do Burato" is made by D. Ventura. It's the entry level bottle, though the higher ups don't cost a whole lot more. D. Ventura is a family winery run by one Ramon Losada. He uses old family plots to produce three wines. The first, the Burato, is made from vines grown near the river Minho...

07 Baudry Chinon Franc de Pied

Another thanks to Keith. I've had some passing interest in wines produced from self-rooted vines. Here is Oregon it's relatively common (relative to other parts of the west coast) to have some self-rooted vines. The cooler climate has made phylloxera less of a pest than downy mildew...
