2005 Texier Chateauneuf de Pape Blanc

What about Texier's C9DP red 2005? I've a couple of bottles, and I was tempted to open one at some point. Should I forget them for a while? (any definition of while would be appreciated).

TN: Some Chenin Blanc: Huet, Baumard, Closel, D'Epire, Petits Quarts

I wonder if I come in 20 years to the shop with the receipt and a corked bottle what would they do... By the way, that reminds me a recent bad experience with a Le Mont 1ere trie 1996 I purchased directly at the cellar. When I opened it in Madrid... the wine wasn't the same I tasted at Huet's...

TN: Some Chenin Blanc: Huet, Baumard, Closel, D'Epire, Petits Quarts

I just saw some bottles on saturday of the 89 Huet Clos du Bourg at fortysomething euros on saturday on a shop, I see it's good stuff so I'll pick some. I was at Vouvray some months ago, and I found the 07's demi-secs really nice. The producers I talked to (Pinon, Huet and Chidaine on the other...

TNR: '96 Roumier MSD Clos de La Bussire

I had a couple of bottles from this 97 recently and it was quite nice, very earthy, not extremely complex but enjoyable and elegant nose. Firm tannins and excellent acidity on the palate. It's drinking well now, not tired at all.

    Food with white Hermitage?

Two weeks ago we had a Chave blanc with Japanese food and it went specially well with a spicy maguro dish.

CWD: '01 Mas d'en Compte Priorat (Blanco)

2001 for sure was one of the best vintages for that wine. The problem I have with that wine is its lack of regularity from year to year. 2003 was so-so, 2004 again very good, 2005 and 2006 disappointing, haven't tried yet 2007. 1998 was the first vintage and I tried last year and still was very...

    Sherry, Burgundy, Champagne and Zinfandel

I love Valdespino wines, la bota 15 is as you say an ideal fino. Coliseo is one of the best amontillados you can drink. Now I'm enjoying home Valdespino Palo Cortado Cardenal VORS, what a lovely stuff!

    Affordable Red Villages

Two of my favorite "affordable" Burgundy producers are Goisot and Domaine de Chassorney. Goisot produces quite nice reds and whites in St Bris for around 10-13 (here in Spain), the Sauvignon Blanc is the cheapest and I really like it. From Dom. de Cassorney I'm addicted to his white Bigotes at...
