In the US, it has to be 75% zin to be labeled as zin. Some years, Lytton Springs is not labeled as Zin because it is not 75% zin. Also, Ridge puts the label the exact blend of grapes.
I cannot answer that. I first heard of them in 2007 from John Gilman and visited there. Found the wines hard to taste but got a 1999 Illes de Vergelesses at a restaurant in Beaune a couple of nights later and really liked it. Other than the 2007s (which are somewhat more open young (even there...
I tasted at Chandon des Briailles last summer, but we tasted 2015s from barrel, not 2014s. Tasted as tough as ever. Wonder if the difference is the vintage.
I have had the 2004 Truchot Clos de la Roche a number of times and it is quite good - not at all like a 2004. But some of you guys are rating the 2004 96 or 97 points on CellarTracker???? What would you rate the 1999 or the 2005?
The 2004 is probably the weakest Clos de la Roche in the period...
Yep. In a different class from other 2004s I have had. And, the Clos de la Roche is to me the best of the bunch.
Frankly, the 2003s are getting to be there also. Tasted like 2003s when first released; now starting to taste like Truchots.
And then there was your interview with David Schildknecht where you asked one question and he spoke for at least 1/2 hour without taking a breath. Only David could get so wound up - really enjoyed it.
