    TN: 2024 Kabinetten (Feb 25, 2026)

Thanks for the notes, Jeff. We're largely in agreement. I thought the two Willi Schaefer, the Donnhoff and the Richter- Braunenberger Juffer were tops, with the Richter Wehlener Sonnenuhr close behind, but pretty much liked everything other than the Loewen and Keller. Btw, you may want to make...

What did you buy a case of this year?

I rarely buy by the case, but I recently ordered a case of the '24 Max. Ferd. Richter- Riesling Kabinett Brauneberger Juffer. Fair warning to the locals; you're gonna have it a bunch!

    RIP: Hans Günter Schwarz

His '98s and '01s are simply some of the best Riesling I've ever had. Pure magic. RIP.

TN: The Virtual Tasting #55 (October 16, 2025)

Ah, the wine we waited for Callahan to try at Zen Palate twenty-six years ago... Just echoing what others said about '88. I don't know anyone that doesn't consider '88 the best of the three vintages given it's great acidic balance.

The Spoofers Are Coming For Your Chocolate Next

I'm still pissed Lindt no longer makes raisin and hazelnut milk chocolate bars.

    TN: Loireheads! (Aug 5, 2025)

A fun evening to be sure, with a bunch of wines drinking very nicely, though I'm at odds with Jeff on the Angeli, which I only thought was better than the Brunello. My reds of the night were the Vieux Telegraphe, Clos Roche Blanche and the Fritsche. I also liked the Cazin a lot better than you...

TN: The Birthday Jeebus (June 21, 2025)

Thanks for being note taker, Jeff. Just note, if you ever want clear photos, just ask me to email you instead of just copying them from Facebook. You'll get much better resolution, as I'm sure you know. As for wine, a few disagreements this time. I thought the '20 de Montille was actually quite...

Another shot '02 Le Mont Demi opened before opting to bring an '05 Le Mont demi last night.

TN: Oohu, I See You! (Apr 18, 2025)

I have to believe Jeff was completely alone in his opinion. Why he's trying a sec as the last wine is curious, but the wine is terrific. Vivid yet densely packed with the good stuff. Personally, I find 2019, across the bottlings, one of the strongest lineups from the domaine this century.

TN: Rather Lovely, Rather Old Huet (Sat. Dec. 14, 2024)

Thanks, Jeff, again, for being the scribe. Not too much to quibble about with the exception of the '52 demi. Not sure if maybe you confused what was in your glass, but that wine was sensational, as it always is and would've taken WOTN honors if not for the other worldly '47 LHL 1ere Trie. That...

    In Memoriam

I think Dougherty's ten year anniversary is either today (29th), 30th or 31st. Let's not forget Josh Raynolds, another one that left us way too soon.

    Sad news

Sad news. Unfortunately, like others here, he and I were at odds. However, I will never forget the dinner we had together at La Rocchetta with the Coads, Dressner, Jay Miller and I think one other person was there. Dressner was in peak form that night. My other fond memory of Thor was his and...

    TN: Sasha's Birthday (Aug 4, 2024)

Ira had pity on me when he saw all the Champagne and Burgundy that was going to be there, so he brought this along. While very much appreciative of his kindness, the wine was just alright. Could use a little more flesh to balance out the acidity. For me, the two best flights were the Gruners...
