TN: A '60's theme for a birthday boy.

Nope, Lou, that was our last visit. We're hoping to get down that way in the fall or winter though.

TN: A '60's theme for a birthday boy.

Brad, happy belated birthday from another '64 who doesn't always like oxidative whites. However, when I had that Tondonia Blanco (about 7-8 years ago, I'd guess), it was fantastic, and the oxidative quality was minimal at that time compared to the overall complexity of the wine. Often this...

    Huet Haut-Lieu Sec '95

I had a '95 Le Mont Sec at Thanksgiving, and it was showing very well although still a touch on the young side. If you have more than one bottle and are unsure about storage, I'd pop one to see where it's at now.

    2x2

While it's not the best wine in their lineup, a '98 d'Angerville Fremiets was drinking very nicely a couple of weeks ago.

    Affordable Red Villages

I'm much more familiar with the Kermit Lynch book, since that's what we carry, but you should be able to find red Bourgognes from Lucien Boillot, Guillemot, and a few of the Villaine bottlings (the '06 La Fortune is especially pretty, and a good young drinker), as well as the Chevillon...

Nice wine and (mostly) nice country music

In the past, the Cotes du Rhone (and Gigondas, too, I believe) with the Cotes du Rhone label were produced by Chateau Trignon. The Pallieres Gigondas is a totally different animal, and as Eden mentioned, is a joint project between KL and the Bruniers of Vieux Telegraphe fame. The Pallieres is...

Aging things you're not supposed to

Don, Spring Mountain Vineyards is still producing wine. Either that or someone is doing a pretty good job slapping their labels onto bottles in our warehouse? Marshall

Here's what I do for a living, in case anyone is interested.

Exactly. No matter whether you believe in evolution, Judaism, Christianity, or something else, everyone pretty much agrees that no one started here. We just took different routes to get here.

    Jeebus in SF Monday, 12/8

Am I the only one tired of these stupid abbreviations like Noho? It's gotten so bad that it's a joke in Portland. One particular lower-income area is called BePo, as in Between Popeye's (a fried chicken chain).

    Thunderbolt

I'll probably see him Saturday, and I'll tell him that you said hello. Bob was at the tasting (back in 1998, I think it was?) that Brad tried to reference with his faulty html. Let's hope Brad isn't in charge of the web site at Louis/Dressner.

Really, I thought this site had only been open a month or so? I know, it's a bad html tag, Brad. Interesting that Bob Scherb was at that tasting, too. I'll have to ask him about it. He's the owner of Liner & Elsen (a Portland wine shop) now.

Don, who was there from the old CS wine board? I always wonder what happened to guys like Dave Sit and Bob Spector, guys who helped turn me on to interesting wines before the internet was invented by Al Gore.

    TN: 2006 Dard & Ribo Saint-Joseph

I'd also say that the Cote-Rotie and Saint-Joseph from Phillipe Faury share at least a kinship in style, although the Cote-Rotie is bigger, more complex and probably more ageable.

CWD: Vilmart, Gonon, GdP, Montille, Lapierre, Čotar, Loew

Can you check the code on the back of the bottle? We might be able to figure out if it's the same cuvee as the KLWM bottling.
