    It's Thanksgiving in the US.

Pinon Vouvray has long been my white of choice for Thanksgiving and this year I pulled a 2011 Trois Argiles, which was showing sone age but still enjoyable. For a red, the 2013 Patricia Green PN Berserkers’ Cuvée still has plenty of life and worked well with the traditional Thanksgiving feast.

    Brezeme CDR Question.....

I had a similar experience recently with the 1999, which showed much better (and incredibly well) a couple of hours after being double decanted.

    RIP Catherine Roussel

I learned today from Josefa Concannon on Facebook and confirmed on Jim Budd’s post (https://jimsloire.blogspot.com/2022/09/farewell-inspirational-catherine.html?m=1) that Catherine Roussel has passed away. Unlike others here, I never had the honor of meeting her, but the wines that she and...

TN: Wu Again (July 20, 2021)

I’m running low on my 1996 and 1997 Pierre Bise CdLs, but it’s always nice to see a note on one. If anyone is ever in Atlanta, I have a lot of 1996 Loires I’d be happy to share.

    Ridge Zins

I take it you never watched the original Iron Chef? The English translation of the show reflected British usage of “grill” as a synonym for with what we Americans call a “broiler.” Most references to a “grilled” item on the show (and in Britain more generally) describe one cooked under a...

TN: Strada Provinciale 68 and other roads

    I’m tentatively in.

"The Emperor Has No Clothes" Jeebus

Add Jamet to the mix, though it seems my $32 1991 has broken the $1,500 mark at auction. The 1998 has gone from $35 to almost $500, so it fits as well.

TN: The Virtual Tasting #12 (March 25, 2021)

For some reason 1970 Montrose and Palmer were plentiful and reasonably priced about 25 years ago so they frequently were paired at tastings. I’m glad to hear that they are still holding up, I wish I’d saved some.

    Eastern Jeebus

I posted this on the other thread, but will add it here to keep things organized. I have 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2002 Coudert Tardive and 2002 of the normals that I’d enjoy sharing. I have my second dose on April 6 and am looking forward to jeebusing.

TN: Strada Provinciale 68 and other roads

I just mentioned a Durham Southern Jeeb on another thread, I should have waited until I read this one. I have 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2002 Coudert Tardive and 2002 of the normals that I’d enjoy sharing.

    2010 Ormes de Pez

Any thoughts about a late May or June Southern Jeebus? Now that I’m two weeks from my second Pfizer shot, I’m actually exhilarated by the thought of driving 6 hours each way for a couple nights of food and wine fellowship.

    Alzinger Grüner Veltliner

I don’t have a lot of data points, but so far the 1998 Loibner Weingarten and 2000 Mühlpoint have been aging extremely well, as has the 1998 Riesling Loibenberg. I’ve been generally thrilled with the development of a lot of 1998 Austrians, a vintage I’ve greatly enjoyed since release, but I...

    Impressions December 2020, Part II

I grabbed a tote and a T-shirt. I think this was my first CafePress purchase since an assortment of Enemyvessel/Wine Therapy shirts many years ago which have held up very well.

    Gros Misdemeanor

I’ve yet to lose a GGG despite a few years of regular use but I only wash them in the dishwasher, which I think is the key to longevity for these kinds of thin glasses. The GGG remains my favorite stem though I have a range of Grassls with which I’m still experimenting. At the last Southern...

    Impressions October 2020, Part IV

Disappointing but consistent with my extremely limited experience (a sample of one). At a tasting about six years ago, a 2003 Marlene was mediocre at best while the 1993 and 1995 Clos des Cistes and Syrah Leones ranged from excellent to stupendous. I know a couple of friends have more recent...
