German pinot noir dinner (May, 2019)

Robert, I'd wondered what would become of Henrik's leased vineyards and greatly appreciate the tip. Alte Oelberg is such a pretty place, with interesting microclimates.

German pinot noir dinner (May, 2019)

I stumbled across these very brief notes which I'd intended to post awhile back, as you don't see many for these wines. Better late than never I suppose. Jim was also at this dinner, so hopefully he will add some comments. No big surprises here but I really enjoyed the opportunity to drink...

I haven't had the full lineup, but I dig that Bow & Arrow "Air Guitar". If I'm correctly remembering a conversation with Dana last year at Bar Norman, the wines of Clos Roche Blanche are a prime inspiration behind B&A. I believe brother Kirk has more direct knowledge, though.

    Weiss Rot

That has been my experience has well. Others seem to disagree, though.

Damn lovely 2005 Alliet Chinon A.C. & Vielles Vignes...

Karen, I really appreciate these notes as I have a bottle of each. I've sampled a few 2005s here and there but they've never seemed even close to ready, so I am still holding these plus several of the other usual suspects (Baudry, Rougeard, Joguet, etc) with no expectation of opening soon...

We're all either in the same boat or have at least thought about it.

Thanks for sharing these notes, Jeff. That 2014 Pépière sounds gorges.

I have just n=2, but one was stellar (Egly-Ouriet) and the other intriguing if inconclusive (Barbichon).

Jeff is referring to the 2017 Pascal Henriot Coteaux de Champlitte mentioned in the Secchu Yokota thread. I have been tempted to pick up some of those Horiot bottles as well, though.

And I'm confused, because Coteaux Champenois != Coteaux de Champlitte. While I was not previously aware of the latter designation or wine, it appears to be in a different region of France. Although they have pinot noir in common.
