It’s up there. You might even consider it a bargain in comparison to Valentini and Emidio Pepe.

I think you mean 1961 Cheval Blanc. That's the wine he drinks at the end.

    some more Sideways

I was not a huge fan after the first viewing mainly because Paul Giamatti plays his (mostly detestable) character so well that it’s often times painful to watch. Subsequent viewings allowed me to appreciate his excellent acting -- among outstanding performances by all of the main players. The...

    Exceeding Expectations

I have always believed that the small percentage of total successes might be improved in a restaurant situation where the staff could have access to consistently prepared dishes and stocks of wine. But they're probably just employing the same generalities that most of the rest of us use at home.

Based on my couple of experiences with this wine I believe you missed out on a lot of what it had to offer by not decanting and only drinking over 2.5 hours.

Honestly the first few times I tried them I was not a fan. But they grew on me. And they are definitely the best right out of the simmering broth. The cold, bagged ones are for hardcore fans only. I make them at home here in Detroit on occasion, usually when I’m shopping at the local 168 Asian...

    Speaking of Verdicchio

Since we're speaking of Verdicchio we must also be speaking of Lugana. Ottella's 2015 "Molceo" Lugana Riserva is another recent moderately priced Italian that really delivers the goods. It smells like a seaside homestead with aromas of citrus peel, straw, ocean spray, wet slate, and smoke...

    Art

Postmodernism has devolved into a satire of itself. Weren’t we tired of Jeff Koons’ Paris sculpture “eleven colored anuses mounted on stems” long before its installation? Just tape a banana to the wall and bring on the zombie apocalypse already.

I believe the wine was released in 2016 and it looks like you can still easily purchase it at the release price. So, technically, the cost was always nuts. But it's a bargain compared to a bottle of Coche-Dury Corton-Charlemagne.
