    Turkey Day wines?

Two bottles are waiting for the cooking to be a bit further along: Kuentz-Bas 2024 Edelzwicker (although they call it "Alsace" not "Edelzwicker") Lafarge 2018 Clos du Chateau des Ducs

    RIP: Hans Günter Schwarz

I was lucky enough to visit Müller-Catoir during his time there, not really knowing the wines but having heard lots of buzz. It was quite amazing. It was inevitable that I would drink German Riesling; it's his fault that I drink Scheurebe and Muscat. I am deeply grateful for the wine he made...

Good wine shop in Providence, RI ?

I see they have Vollenweider and Öhlzelt, and probably some others imported by the good folks at Vom Boden, so that's a very good sign. Thanks!

Good wine shop in Providence, RI ?

Any updates on wine shops, in or near Providence? Maybe something has changed in ~14 years?

CWD: What did you drink last night (or whenever)?

Zilliken Saarburger Rausch Beerenauslese 2005 AP 4-06 was really pretty wonderful. Lots of apricot with the acidity adding a bit of citrus. Glad I still have a few more.

No contest riesling: Wasenhaus vs. Ruck

I often find it fun how wine math is funny. But there's not much fun in 50 euros for a bottle that doesn't offer any pleasure.

CWD: What did you drink last night (or whenever)?

What to drink after 5+ days of moving in July? Gin is the first thing that comes to my mind.

In the Pfalz (Rebholz, Wehrheim, Koehler-Ruprecht)

Thanks for this conversation. I just recently had Wasenhaus' Weissburgunder and loved it; it would be great to have in the rotation. But I don't have the time and energy for hunting hard to find wines these days, and while it is worth the steep sticker price it isn't cheap, so I'm glad to have...

CWD: What did you drink last night (or whenever)?

While on vacation in Idaho I had a chance to try a few things. Alzinger Ried Mühlpoint Grüner Veltliner Federspiel 2021 A cool, minerally wine, that didn't have much of the 'peppery' flavor I love in GV. If I had to pick a fruit descriptor it would be grapefruit, but the mineral aspects were...

TN: An excuse for special bottles

There's lots to be jealous of in this collection of wines, but the JJ Prüm is at the top of my list. It's such a lovely vintage. The couple of 1975ers I've had in more recent years seemed to be going gracefully more quiet than what I recall from bottles consumed in the early 2000s. Not shutting...
