NV Pierre Péters

I rarely drink Champagne. But when I do, I wish it were a more frequent habit.

Last night's NV Pierre Péters Blanc de Blancs Cuvée de Réserve (March 2020 Disgorgement) was delicious.

The more detailed note would say that it is fresh, crisp, mineral and very finely frothed. Not a profound or particularly deep Champagne, but there is enough firm snap and sap to the fruit to make it more than just elegant ephemera on the tongue. Well worth drinking and enjoying. And a great match to an assortment of sushi.

Since it's the season, I'll add a sparkler: Cava Brut Riserva "Cupada 21" 2016, Pere Mata - pale white gold; significant if brief head and rather big, aggressive bubbles; subdued initially but aromas of lees, yeast, lemon curd appear; good acid, fresh, lemony fruit with a touch of grapefruit, hint of bread; med length, lively. Intensity of all the elements grows with air and the bubbles settle down. Disgorged in 2019. Not Gramona level, but tasty stuff.

Mascaró Brut Nature Reserve "Pure" (Penedes) is being consumed in body weight quantities here. And for those who know me, not my body weight.
