To all those in the Boston area: there will be a killer line up of Loire Valley wines open for our "abbondanza" style tasting tomm, September 17. It will be held from 6-8 pm at the store (thewinebottega.com, 341 hanover st, boston) and the cost is ten dollars but we will be happy to waive the fee for any disorderists that show up. (Just flash the secret sign, which is yet to be determined, at the door). Please feel free to show up a little early as we are hoping to have some other folks from the industry drop by.

Just some of the wines/producers:

Bossard, Mark Angeli, Olivier Cousin, Clos Roche Blanche, le Briseau, Clos Rougeard, Breton, Crochet, Huet and many more... i cant wait to crack these (especially since its a fruit day tomm).

Just say you heard from Matteo, hope some folks can make it.

Matteo, this is a long shot but do you have family that makes wine in the Roero and a relative named Giacomo who teaches philosophy at a university in the midwest?
 
I just saw this as well. Would have been nice indeed. Sounds like a few more producers/wines than the usual tastings at your shop?
 
A response to a few questions, i have not checking in on the thread in a while, excuse the tardiness.

Slaton: I do not know this family with the teacher in the midwest. You dont know the producer at all? I can ask around.

Rahasaan:Yes, these "abbondanza" style tastings are quite different from our traditional Friday night tastings. The idea is to really immerse yourself in a region, varietal or producer. We open 15+ wines that are all top caliber, stuff that we can't open for a regular tasting. We try to find both up and coming stars as well as icons. We do them about once a month this time of year (fall-spring). It would be great to have you and some other folks from the disorder check them out. Like i said, we would be happy to waive the 10$ fee (we charge this really only to cover the cost of the wines that we open, often pretty expensive but worth it, we have snacks too.)Even feel welcome to come a bit early to avoid the crowd. see you soon!

Finally, the Loire event went great.

Some of my favorites were the Huet '06 Le Mont, drinking great. The 2004 Clos Rougeard, sick!. The 02 Crochet Sancerre CP, and the Dom. Le Briseau "Les Mortiers" really wild stuff.
