Any Paul Torday fans out there?

Just finished reading The Irresistible Inheritance of Wilberforce. Aside from being a gripping and well-crafted book, there is so much wine content. Not the most uplifting angle on our chosen area of interest, but it was still well worth reading.

Interesting. I hadn’t heard of him before, though the title Salmon Fishing in the Yemen does ring a bell. It appears that his debut occurred when he was 60 (and he died at 67).

Yes, I've only recently learned of him. Apparently he wrote eight novels in the last years of his life, making up for lost/limited time. The Irresistible Inheritance of Wilberforce is about a man who drinks himself to death with Bordeaux. Grisly topic, but as I said, lots of wine content! (And well written for my tastes)

And here I thought you were reading about the 18th century anti-slavery movement in England, which happened to have passages on Wilberforce's taste in wine.

on winedisorder, that could be taken the wrong way

Ha! I actually debated making a Bordeaux joke when posting, but decided to take the prudent path.

It appears to have a different title for the kindle version: Bordeaux: A Novel in Four Vintages

I think that's the title for the book when sold in America, in general. Must have come from some marketing whiz!
