Hi all,
the Mme and I celebrated our 10 year wedding/25 year together anniversary last night. Very fun...started at Canlis where we enjoyed a bottle of '14 JM Pillot CM Vergers Clos de Marc...superb and a point...with appetizers. Not really at all an aperitif wine, but whatever, the 104 year old vines showed through...
Canlis, btw, is really a worthwhile destination. I'm not sure there's anything quite like it. Absolutely time warp building, designed by Roland Terry and beautifully updated over the years...lounge piano, somehow you step back to 1963 without feeling weirdly retro. We realized we need to go more often, esp since it's just a couple miles from our house.
Then headed to our old well worn classic, Cafe Campagne. The old running shoe. We were married in the old Campagne space above. Had a 2014 O Raffault Picasses, which is just so on and perfect. That wine always seems to hold the brett/VA on the margins, enough to interest but not OTT.
The Mme's 60th was earlier this year and we had more pyrotechnical bottles for that, but somehow the evening last night was just fun and perfect. I'm a lucky guy!
