Lovely 2003 JJ Prüm Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Spätlese

I tried another 2003 vintage from my cellar since the Zilliken Spätlese was delicious a few weeks ago...
Color is bright, clean gold. Bouquet extremely fresh and fine upon opening; high tiny white field flowers, fine-grained white stone elements, some white peach/nectarine fine notes; stone fruits emerge with a bit of time but overall aromas retain fresh cold meadow notes; 30 minutes later the bouquet is more red/yellow peach & nectarine with fresh springs water and fields notes. Taste is clean and fresh; red nectarine fruit with a distinct, small acidity note that keeps the fruit in check and gives a tiny smack to the finish; almost a red plum note here; the texture is sleek and there is a graininess to it, acidity is fine and lends brightness to the fruit; the fruit is distinctly red-spectrum (peaches, nectarines, ripe plums).
Later... an almost-strawberries note is in the bouquet and in my mouth along with the other elements.

Great note, Karen. I think the heat of that year leads to more pit-fruit flavors.
Thank you, Jeff. I have only tasted Prüm's Zeltinger S. in a few vintages and I have really liked it.... this particular 2003's red stone fruits were pretty. The wine had no fat to it. I've got a few 2001's that I haven't sampled yet.
