Wine with octopus

Following up on the earlier differing thoughts expressed as to what goes best with octopus, I debated what to serve with grilled octopus this evening.

After considering various whites e.g. Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, etc., I decided I preferred a red, e.g. Merlot, Petite Sirah, etc.

I finally have opted, subject to a change of mind before this evening, for a crisp rose. I'm leaning toward the Chene Bleu Le Rose '20...

Actually, on second thought, I might switch to the Carol Shelton Wild Thing Old Vine Mendocino County Zinfandel '18 which comes across light and crisp...

I've not had octopus in years, but my go-to had always been a substantial rather than a "crisp" rose, e.g. Bandol or Tonodia rosado.

Bob, excellent "opine" -- too late, obviously, for the cited octopus dinner; however, the crisp and aromatic character that typifies Santorini would surely have been superb this evening with the escargot with parsley and butter sauce then oatmeal cookie and blueberries we enjoyed on our 4th floor terrace.

We had a Leflaive Macon Verze Les Chenes '18 then finished with a Ridge Geyserville '16, both of which worked well for our tastes.

the purpose of this thread has merit. unfortunately, on the less desirable side, it buries any info on specific food pairings by assuming that everyone else will like to pair the same wine with octopus and 'oatmeal cookie and blueberries.' given the lack of organization, wine searches will be problematic if not fruitless.
