Up on Lopez Island for two weeks, trading houses with an old friend (a little weird when you have professional colleagues from 35 years ago, but there you go). Managed to forget to pick up two cases from wine storage the night before, curses (tyranny of the ferry, esp on July 4th weekend), but Esquin bails out with a 10am opening and a hurried grab and go. Out the Esquin door at 10:10am.
Nice tradition (whilst catching noon or later ferry) of a nice bottle waiting for ferry. Here, a fine traditional old vine Marsanne, 50 yo+ wines, JLL adores as 5* STGT, I perhaps find a bit less complexity, but still very like, global warming Marsanne richesse, pure and clean. Something that would be in the Rosenthal book.
