New to me: Diego Conterno and Pierre Baillette

A friend brought over a bottle (already decanted) of 2016 Diego Conterno Barolo. Perfectly prepared, firm ripe layered and giving of perfumed pleasure. Barolo for people like me, those who do not appreciate gobs AND who do not have decades-old bottles in the cellar.

The day before it was my first time with NV Pierre Baillette Le Mont Ferré BdB Extra Brut, and it hit all the notes. Good dose of fruit and nicely generous, but nice detail and precision, restrained yet vivid, even better the next day. As always, drink more Champagne (including Baillette).

Gobs in Barolo? The oak has gone away but can't do much with a warming climate and grapes that hit 14.5-15% natural alcohol. Perhaps look elsewhere for nebbiolo kix.
