Kapcsándy Family Winery Endre Yountville Blend '09 -- Inky red, perfumey black fruits, evolved tannins, dark fruits, exotic nuances, plenty of life left, simply delicious. [E]

My kind of Cabernet based wine -- 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot.

Served with grilled Angus burger, sweet potato fries, and Caesar salad... then chocolate chip cookie -- a beautiful match with the wine.

Pete,
Always good to see wine drinkers with a greater range than me.
I haven’t had many from this producer (and certainly not an ‘09) but I have no use for this producer. Just more of the same old, same old Cali cab./blend.
But glad you enjoyed it.

Jim, interesting rejoinder. Of course I respect your judgement so I wish we could have had this bottle together so we could exchange impressions.

Regardless of the wine, when Lou Kapcsandy and I had been together he impressed me as a kind, personable man passionate about his wine. This wine came across as a dead-ringer for a right bank Claret.

Pete,
Experiences with the winemaker often endear one to the wines; I offer my wife as example.
But, just so you know, Cabernet Sauvignon and I don’t play well together so it’s a rare cab based wine I like.

I'm on record saying pretty much the same thing. In the case of this Kapcsandy, both JoAnne and I felt the non-Cab ingredients made any Cab characteristics almost (if not fully) undetectable.
