2009 Huet Le Mont Vouvray Sec
Takes a few hours to get going but then shows some really lovely elements. Rich golden layered fruit, aging and maturing but with bright mineral structure that reminds me of Le Mont. Fragrant rich and detailed. Well worth drinking.

2015 Foreau Vouvray Sec
I don’t drink much Foreau these days, but was happy to enjoy this bottle. I don’t love the appley flavors but everything else is perfect. Juicy elegant and mineral, with lots of 2015 fruit but poised and firm. And the particular cocktail of fruit and savory chalk aromas transport me directly to the Loire, so it has that whole space-time continuum thing going for it

2021 Chidaine Les Choisilles Montlouis
So delicious. Juicy and succulent but also fresh herbal and racy. Even more vibrant than another glorious bottle from a few weeks ago. Plenty of modern flesh but still showing the elegance, grace and linear angles that I miss in the modern vintages. Too bad I don’t see this around anymore, so will see how the 2024 shows.

just night before last I had the chidaine montlouis bournais 2021, a sec bottling. it is fleshing out nicely from its early phase of laser light show. another example of the potential glories of the 2021 vintage, much the same as in chablis.

Good to hear. I used to focus on the Les Bournais bottling, but it tends to be a bit riper and then got to be too much in recent vintages. I suppose another one to watch in 2024!

I was hoping this was a new exercise fad!

Ha!

Alas, if so, it would be isolated to the arm, neck and throat muscles, probably not very efficient...
