2001 Thomas-Labaille Sancerre Cuve Buster Les Monts Damns - France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Sancerre (1/17/2009)
Wow, this was a very, very convincing bottle. Very convincing. I had one about a year and a half ago that seemed ready but didn't move me. This did. Intense lemon pledge with a hit of grapefruit. Alive and a little cloudy. I hope the next one can live up to this bottle.
2005 Marcel Lapierre Morgon - France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon (1/12/2009)
Who knew this wine has some real structure? The lush fruit is gone. It's a bit reticent now, but, with air, it shows very well.
1996 Franois Cazin (Le Petit Chambord) Cour-Cheverny Vendanges Manuelles Cuve Renaissance - France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Cour-Cheverny (1/10/2009)
Yep, it's good. This bottle showed quite a bit drier and spicier than the last.
2004 Jean et Gilles LaFouge Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru La Chapelle - France, Burgundy, Cte de Beaune, Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru (1/10/2009)
This opened up beautifully, real, authentic Burgundy, with great lift and pure red fruits. After a half hour or so, brett took over and it was stinky for awhile. Towards the end of the bottle, the fruit started looking out again.
2006 Domaine de la Ppire (Marc Ollivier) Muscadet de Svre-et-Maine Sur Lie Clos des Briords, Cuve Vieilles Vignes - France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Svre-et-Maine (1/10/2009)
Never a bad time to open one of these.
2002 Domaine du Closel Savennires Clos du Papillon - France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Savennires (1/5/2009)
This bottle wasn't completely over the hill, but it was pretty darn close. This is the farthest gone I've seen.
