Unless it got some decanter time, I bet the Domaine de Le Côte was tight.
And I’ve never even heard of the Cab.

Jim, yes, the Domaine de La Cote had been decanted and was delicious. I seem to recall you like the Domaine de La Cote producer (which is surprising as it doesn't seem to be "your favored style"). I like and buy this producer's Pinot Noirs occasionally. This Bloom's Field bottling was a fine example of what the Santa Rita Hills Viticultural Area can offer up.

In my view, you are fortunate to have NOT encountered the Cabernet. It was ungiving except for the alcohol assertion...okay, maybe an exaggeration on my part. I didn't drink more than a sip of my glass and would have turned back to the Pinot Noir but it was gone, so I enjoyed some more of the Aubert with the beef.

The Yquem was actually the 1988, arguably one of the all-time finest Yquems...and it showed its magnificence on this occasion.

Pete,
I’m not sure what “my favored style” is but the DdlC Pinots I’ve tasted have been relatively low alcohol, savory, acid driven and usually show whole-cluster. That’s a description that usually bodes well for me.
I don’t buy them because the price is too high. Besides DdlC is private equity now (and probably the reason for the pricing).
As for CA cab: no secret here, it’s not my thing. Always exceptions, sure, but not many, and almost none current day. What amazes me is that I lived there for 15 years and never heard of it.
Judging from your note, nothing missed.
