Guido Marsella 2015 Fiano di Avellino - really dazzled tonight. Punchy aromatics packed with gunpowder at first, which clears up after a little bit. I believe this is about 8 years past release and it's paid off the time sideways by thinning out the flesh a little bit to highlight the texture, which is like chain mail or a wall of scraped rock, positively gothic. The fruit is actually brighter in tone than I remember from back then, some chenin-like quince on the deep end but lots of racy citrus too.
