A new region of Italy for my explorations (Calabria) and a new variety (Nerello, although I'm not sure if it is Nerello Cappuccio or Nerello Mascalese). Ideally I would now describe some of the unique characteristics of this grape, but unfortunately the bottle was Brett-laden and thus barely distinguishable from similarly afflicted offerings from the Rhone, Napa Valley or the Iberian Peninsula. I can say that that the grape leans toward the red-fruit end of the spectrum is not particularly acidic or tannic.
A wine to be avoided if you're are as brett-aversive as I've become.
