And we think we have it bad

I'm sure there is a Dating a non-Tenured Employee Anonymous group out there somewhere..

They probably hold their meetings in different venues.

And as a testimony to the extreme newsworthiness of this story, I actually first read about it this morning in Le Monde:

I hate the game, not the player.

The support group for dating non-tenured research faculty is called the abused spouse shelter.

I threw up a little when I read that...

Hard not to.

I thought the reader was supposed to be happy that these Rich Women were suffering and getting their comeuppance.

Oh there is rarely any comeuppance in such a forthrightly bourgeois publication.

Is Megan Petrus her real name? Kind of appropriate in this context.

-Eden (as for Ms. Dawn Spinner Davis, is "Spinner" her middle name or a nickname? Maybe she could go back to her previous line of work if things don't work out with her FBF)

The names in this highly newsworthy piece suggested to me that The Newspaper of Record might have laid off a few too many people in the fact-checking department.

"The Newspaper of Record might have laid off a few too many people in the fact-checking department."

My bet is that the NYT was punked. Just too funny. But all humor does have an element of truth to it.

Hopefully, our true Wall St. types like .sasha and SFJoe will chime in, but I'm pretty sure there really are folks this callow and pathetic.

VLM's link doesn't work for me (it takes me to a page that seems to need a password or something), but if this is the DABA story, yeah, it seemed pretty satirical/hoaxy to me, too. Although VLM is certainly free to use it as puke material, should he so desire.

NPR seems to think so, too.

"I hate to say this, but there's no group of thirty people on the internet where nobody gets defensive."

How true is that?

There's a reason I point bullets at you.

I understand your seething jealousy and resentment of us city-folk, it makes a lot of sense to me, it really does. Were I in your shoes, I'm sure I'd feel the same way.

Please, I urge youdon't allow your geographical challenges to poison your sense of self-worth. You are, believe it or not, just as good and valid a human being as any of us swaggering, satire-grasping cityslickers!

I will pray for you tonight.

Something mellow and non-judgmental, I hope... with light accents of Kevlar...?

I picked up a bottle of La Bohme Rouge today. I expect Kevlar, carbon fiber, e-glass and the like. Probably nothing too sharp and steely.
