1990 Dehlinger, Pinot

While visiting my in-laws I discovvered a 1990 Dehlinger, Pinot Noir Russian River in their wine cellar. A substantial layer of dust had formed on the bottle. I remember the trip we took when this bottle was purchased so I know it was bought on release.
With porcini risotto it was delicious. There's a certain softness about older wines, especially domestic types; its not so much a loss of acidity as a mellowing of the overall profile.
Anyway, it was a nice bottle with dinner, everyone enjoyed it and it was something unexpected from folks who usually buy two buck or three buck Chuck.
Best, Jim

This wine was absolutely stunning about 3-4 years ago, with a remarkable floral-spicy aroma. Among my top domestic Pinots ever.
