last night with the traveling dressner circus we had some 1995 breton bourgueil perriers. i was somewhat drunk at this point in the evening, so this will not be an actual tasting note. it was the oldest bottle of breton that i have had (to date...). it was fabulous. everything was still there. the tannin was well integrated. fruit had subsided some. balance, balance, balance. just delicious...

the world needs more older breton!
 
I had my last bottle of 1997 Senechal last year. It was wonderful. 1997 was very successful for Breton. Wish I had more.

No 1995 or 1996s left for me either.

Bummer.
 
I lobbied my congressman unsuccessfully for a "older Breton" subsidy to be added to the stimulus bill. With both registered importers based in blue states, I thought it would be a shoo-in, but apparently not...

While we're on the subject, has anyone had an older Franc de Pied? I realize there hasn't been much time for the wines to age, 02 being the first vintage and all.
