i had a couple of 06's last year and really enjoyed them. i pulled the last of that stash out a couple of days ago and enjoyed it even more than i recall last yr's. seems like it's filled out even more.

found more of the '06 in a local store today and snapped a few up, along with a saumur cb. we went down to the river and ate snacks and drank the wines...interesting contrasts, but esp surprised about the cork on the bossard: composite, with a 1/4 inch slice of standard cork on the outside side. i can only guess this cork was put in backwards.

Or the cork was an irregular.
Usually they have discs on both ends. Unless you have very specialized bottling equipment the one side-only jobs all need to be inserted by hand, which is a pretty expensive step to add to the process.

that makes sense, Bruce....the bottles purchased last year were closed with a single piece of cork (no discs on either side) so when i pulled off the capsule, it actually looked plastic in the semi-darkness.
