Here's to Pierre Bouree

Had an 01 GC village last night at friends (along with an 02 Olivier Merlin PF T d Vergisson that was fairly awful and modern). And an 88 Clos de la Justice a couple of weeks ago. Both were really great, pure, direct examples. I don't see these around much but thought I'd give a note because they both stood out.

Thanks Brad. I had always thought this was a producer (negoce?) to avoid. These are usually relatively inexpensive when I see them, so I'll give them a try.

They are a very small negociant, with some of their own vineyards.

I had the same feeling. JG had positive comments on older bottles, as well as a couple of newer vintages, and the owner of a local shop I really like (La Cantina) thinks highly of them so I gave them a whirl.

You'd really like it. It's over on Sand Point Way, on the way to Magnusson Park. The owner's a great guy. They are a Burgundy specialist and manage to dig up some real gems that I don't see anywhere else in town. Not big at all, but you'll see thing or two or three, with some neat older vintages mixed in.
