2000 V. Dauvissat, Chablis Les Clos:
Not ready, even after an evenings aeration. Still its a pretty wine and it has a nice nose with concentrated fruit in the mouth. But the only thing Grand Cru here at present is the length. Hold.

2005 Terres Dorees (Brun), Beaujolais Fleurie:
Fresh and charming but not with the grace and depth that it had at release.
Day two: Improved but still noticeably less than at release. Hold.

2001 Egon Muller, Scharzhofberger Kabinett (AP 142-3-02):
Very bright and almost spritzy, lots of stoniness and barely off-dry; maybe a little closed but pretty close to at peak. Great with an Asian salad with peanut sauce. And much the better as it approaches room temp.

2007 Edmunds St. John, Heart of Gold:
When tasted unaccompanied, a bit acidic for me but with shrimp cocktail it is as good a match as is possible. Horseradish and hot sauce cannot defeat it and yet the shrimp flavors shine through - and thats hard to do with any cocktail sauce alone. One of those rare moments when the wine makes the dish remarkably better.

2006 Navarro, Pinot Noir Methode a LAncienne (375 ml):
Mendocino pinots often leave me with the impression that they have a sort of crackling sensation to back the bright flavors no exception here. Considerable minerality (bordering on saline) and some depth with a medium length, balanced finish. Not great pinot but representative of the area, tasty and well made. 13.7% alcohol.

Best, Jim
