Two delicious wines

Yes you already knew about 2002 Huet Petillant but I am happy to have held off this long before opening my first and it was sensational. And a 1983 de Fargues half bottle was magical. Non winos at the table were entranced by both.

The nonwinos seem, like the unnameable one, to focus on what's in the glass without much concern about place or grape.

Sounds good. I am assuming these are still your Italian visitors and was wondering if they had any national chauvinism to display.

My Italian friends (of whom one is left in the US) are chauvinistic on what to me seem to be random national products (such as shoes). While their supermarkets (where most wine is bought) stock mainly Italian wine they seem happy to try whatever is on offer when they are here.

My Italian wine geek friends enjoy great Italian wines but show little chauvinism when interesting wines from abroad are offered (Zul has been buying Muscadet and grower champagne in bulk for his fellow geeks for years).
