2004 Jacques Puffeney Arbois Poulsard, alc 13%, $25:
like a wise old man...leathery but gentle...no frills but complex and interesting...fascinating to revisit because you learn/sense something new each time...much deeper than one might think at first...a wine that teaches you rather than confronts you
WOW..what a great wine!!

This particular showing reminds (favorably) me of a good showing of an old Vina Tondonia...?54??
 
The 2004 Puffeney Trousseau Berangeres is a gorgeous wine also.
Maybe my favorite Jura red so far (out of a very small sample).

The next vintage was a little bit of a let down.
I wonder how the 2006 and 07 are?

That was indeed good stuff. made me wish for more than the 1 bottle I had.

05's need some time, for trousseau and poulsard at least, the vieilles vignes i tasted was way overipe.
06 trousseau is the only available of the vintage so far, it's great, lean, pure, just beautiful stuff. I don't know when the poulsard arrives, but if berangeres was that good, i assume the poulsard wll be as well.

That was my complaint about the 05 trousseau, too ripe.

Thanks for your thoughts on the 06.

Is the Puffeney vielles vignes a blend of all three red grapes?
The last one I drank was the VV 04 and it had the most tannin of any of the reds, also it was completely closed down, about a year ago.

I can see that, the wine is not ready but it's not too ripe, it's still fresh, just a little tight and tannic at the moment, i'm certain a couple years will do some good to the wine.
