The weather finally got warm last week, I got the itch, and there it was: 2006 Renwood Sierra Foothills zinfandel, on sale for $8.99. The wine has everything I like about zinfandel. It is light in color with a bramble aroma, weedy fruit flavor and grippy tannin. Bistro wine in all its glory! I know nothing about this winery and picked the bottle mostly because it had a nice label, was on sale, and alleged to be below 14% alcohol. Also, according to their website, there is no syrah in the blend. It's just zinfandel!
