NWR: Richard Wright RIP

I will be playing plenty of Pink Floyd tonight in memory of their keyboardist, Richard Wright, who died today. Obit here.

One of my favorite bands of all time and certainly the best concert I ever saw.

Really the most underrated influence on the Pink Floyd sound. When Waters and Gilmour were duking it out, neither one of their bands sounded like Floyd anymore. Meanwhile there are few actual Floyd songs that sound as Floydian as "Summer Elegy" on Wright's first solo album. It's almost as if he was the necessary and sufficient condition for the Pink Floyd sound.
