Ive been viewing a couple of bottles of this with suspicion for a while now. Would it be brett dead? Thats what Ive been thinking. Bracing for disappointment.

Shit I love good old Beaujolais. People talk about pinote, but for me old Beaujolais is always singular and not like anything else. And each commune does keep its distinctiveness as it gets older.

This was a freaking glorious bottle. Gentle ashes, a reminder of last nights campfire as you lay curled up by a river. Old roses, of course. A fine interplay of earth. All surrounding a complex core of Morgon meats. Heavier than an old Cote de Brouilly or Fleurie, but no more than middleweight.

We talked about our favorite Morgons as we drank this last night and the observation was made that Thevenet is inconsistent due to brett issues, but when it performs, it is the peak of the appellation and region.
