Massive 2dary Fermentation in '02 Christoffel Sptlese??

Have others noticed this? I am used to the occasional bit of mild fizz in Mosel rieslings from time to time, but this bottle (Erdner Treppchen) is virtually perlant. What's the deal here? (And the wine is pretty dull; just sort of malic/green appley and not much else.) I have had a good number of '02 Mosels in the past year and I don't recall any having this much CO2.
