Rijckaert, Arbois, En Chante-Merle, 2005 Chardonnay: Under plastic cork, but smelling of tca and rot. Really nasty. What happened here? I've enjoyed several of these and at $15/bottle bought a case. This was just strange.
Chateau des Jacques, Clos Rochegres, Moulin a Vent 2006: Interesting nose of roasted game, dark fruit, and some kind of briney wet wool. Showing a bit like Gevrey with a couple years on it. A touch of heat on the finish, but this is nice. Right now I prefer it to the 2005. Not sure these are worth the cost but I may get a couple more for the cellar. Nice foil to chicken sausages and broccoli rabe.
Ferrando, La Torrazza, Erbaluce di Caluso 2008: The label design has changed since i had this last but the wine is still excellent value. Noses a bit like Loire Valley sauvignon blanc. Citrusy and pleasanty waxy. A little non descript, nothing really grabbing you, but good stuff. I could drink this on a regular basis. Delicious with turkey subs in front of the US/Canada gold medal game.
