I will be traveling through San Francisco in mid May (15th) and I am trying to sort out a layover in which i can check out SF for an evening. I am looking for some recommendations for a decent but not expensive place to stay in a place that i can access a cool restaurant and this cool wine shop/bar i found called terrior. Any suggestions? I have no experience with the city.

thanks in anticipation.

We actually really liked the Marriott Marquis, it is a half block from Powell BART and super central - a nice long walk to Terroir.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Palomar, near to the Moscone Center. Expedia right now shows rooms there for $125 a night, but $179 a night is a more typical price. We walked to Terroir from there, though not all would find that walk pleasant.

Actually, I usually stay with Kraft and we rarely sleep.

And I have more than two scars to prove it! I'm planning to apply for a concealed weapon for the monkey's next visit out here.

Cool, ill check some of these and some others, i was just trying to get a sense of place and access to terrior and a cool resto for an evening...hoping it all works out. Keep the suggestions coming if possible.

thanks again.

Best motel for Terroir is Vagabond Inn. It's inexpensive and clean and about three blocks away, although that's a pretty rough neighborhood.
It'a also right next to a famous gay bar called The Stud, which is even mentioned in the Sean Penn movie about Harvey Milk.
