From .375ml. Color was a perfect light hay. Showing some aged complex aromas of grilled nuts, butterscotch and crushed flowers. Good flovors on the palate with some lively acidity and decent length. A bit short in the midpalate and not as broad as I had hoped. Still for what this is, it performed quite well. Good start to nice meal. We had small plates of potted smoked prawns and pig candy (brown sugar coated applewood smoked bacon with some spice). Also had some ricotta ravioli with beet greens, roasted garlic, parmigiano fricco and grilled asparagus with a sunnyside egg, brown butter and meyer lemon.

This wine is just getting better and better. It is easily the greatest cru Beaujolais I've ever enjoyed. It drinks at the level ofgrand cru. Like a top wine from Gevrey. A wine that makes you sit up and take notice. Amazing aromas of asian spice, cinnamon, white pepper and dark cherry fruits that shift and morph over the course of the night. The palate is broad and layered with the wonderful Gamay funk of earth and stone. Lively acidity and minerals fill out the initial flavors, then sappy red fruits coat the midpalate. Really nice length on the finish. Just a georgous wine that is so enjoyable at this point. I have 2 bottles left and hope to God I can hold off to see how they develop. It's wines like this that make my day. The '07 is special. The '08 is not so special. We enjoyed this with crispy pork belly with shelled beans, cippolini onions, roasted garlic, baby carrots anda wonderful sauce. Also had Wagyu beef loin with roasted fingerlings and creamed spinach. YUM!!!

2004 Domaine Jo Pithon Coteaux du Layon Les Quatres Villages
Lisa brought this bottle. It was from her dear friend Robin's collection and we toasted to her memory. This seemed closed to me, though as I read some of the CT notes perhaps not. Aromas of almonds, a bit of sherry and boytritis. The palate is uninspiring with lower acidity than I like. There is a bitter not on the end. A rather uninspiring sweet wine despite the fact that it came from a very sweet place. Had this with dulce de leche custard, caramel, churros and whipped cream.
