Shabby Chablis

Oswaldo Costa

Oswaldo Costa
2004 Domaine Laroche Chablis 12.5%
Bottled under screwcap, fresh as a daisy, no sign of having attended reduction camp. White flower aromas smothered by oak. Touch of citrus, honeyed sweetness (slightly yucky), insufficient acid, would never have guessed chablis, maybe chardonnay from Chile (maybe the juice is smuggled from Laroche's Chilean operation). Modern and unbalanced, only positives are moderate alcohol and good mouth density. Was hoping this might be decent so I could age some without cork worries, but no.
