Ganevat Pinot Noir

I really really wanted to like the '08, but when it came down to it, I couldn't.

Nose is a bit all over the place. Light fruit tones, mineral dust, cherries. Not too complex. Some citrus, some damp earth. Dull. Palate is a screecher. High, high acid. Not enough fruit. Heat. Boo.

Lyle, I think you need to let your senses breathe at least one hour between reading Zola and drinking Ganevat. Aeration is important.

Really the '08 is no good? that would be disappointing.

On day 2 and not much improvement. I am very disappointed. I'll see what day 3 holds. He says its his best. I say the '04 is.

i have liked very much the 08s i have had. but, there is definitely a window of enjoyment. open, wait 10-15 minutes, drink the wine over the next half hour, you're done. not sure how this translates to future growth...

That sounds like a description of really old Bordeaux. It has a 15 minute drinking window.
