Opened a few bottles with a dear friend over the last days.

Roses Jeanne Blanc de Noir was outstanding, great balance, very lively and complex. If all champagne was like this I would drink more. Great with different kinds of raw fish and oysters.

Lopez de Heredia 98 Gravonia was another winner. It is so rare to find white wine that is so complex and in a certain way bold, but still drinks so easily.

A similar combination of bold flavors and great drinkability was in a white 2004 Saint Joseph Le Berceau from Bernard Gripa. I have rarely found such lovely freshness in a white Rhone. Both LDH and SJ were great partners for a variety of raw and lightly cooked fish and seafood dishes.

All three wines above I will try my best to get a full case in my cellar.

Reds were slightly less successful. As described earlier, the 98 Pergole Torte was corked, but still made a lovely sauce which was in the end used for some lamb liver. We drank a 81 Stellenryck CS with it, that was quite lean and quite acidic. Not a lot going on, but the acid made it seem not that old and with food it disappeared quickly.

The day before we had a 99 Talbot. Correct Bordeaux, which I mean in a good way. Enjoyable and emptied quickly, but not exactly goose bump inducing.
