remembering David Mills

Nice tribute to Mills on the HBO site. I've caught some of his stuff on Lifetime Network reruns and enjoyed it a lot. His interest in his characters really showed through.

Did you ever see "Frank's Place" for the two seasons it ran on TV? I've been told that it was sort of like Treme but with humor and a slightly dumbed-down approach for network TV instead of the drama and complex story lines they can get away with on cable. It still got a couple of Emmys for writing. I guess it's easy to be ahead of your time when everyone else is just trying to repackage whatever worked for someone else last season.

I loved "Frank's Place" and I was just telling a friend that "Treme" reminds me of it - mostly just in terms of capturing the feel/tone of NO.

I haven't watched the finale yet so don't tell me.
