Here's what I do for a living, in case anyone is interested.

Marc - that's our niece - we are very close with her mom and brother as well. She is a super cool kid.

Ian - my background is in urban design and environmental policy, and I've been focused on sustainable building for about 7-8 years. This project is the culmination of a lot of disparate pieces of my career.

Wow, Brad, way cool. Is this a new departure for you, or have you been doing it for a while? How did you get started in this line?

No, Ian. I've pretty much been a wiseass as long as I can remember. I blame my environment.

Seriously, Brad. Very cool stuff.

Cool, Brad. How far is Issaquah from Seattle? If I ever come out that way,
could I ask you for a tour?

Issaquah's a suburb about a half hour east of Seattle. I'd be delighted to give tours - when it's done, in about a year.

That's near Roy, isn't it Brad? He lives in a place with an Indian name, too, but I gather there's a lot of that in your hood.

Brad, it isn't correct to use 'Indian' anymore, didn't you get the memo? All those football teams had to revise their team names and mascots, which led to a lot of confusion for the announcers on ESPN.

You are right, though, there are more and more Sikhs and Punjabis in Washington State. I think they moved down from Vancouver.

Hey, Native Americans are immigrants just like the rest of us.

Are you coming out for a visit this year? The Northwest rain festival (Oct-July 4th) starts today.

No, just stayed in CA last time out this summer. You guys can always venture East you know.

Good idea. Maybe we could combine an East Coast Jeebus with The Great Schlep to Florida? Sarah Silverman can be pretty convincing, when she isn't being annoying, which unfortunately is most of the time.

Yeah, Roy lives about 15 minutes from my office.

The East Coast is scary. Big buildings and all, you know.

I still have that 89 Vin de Press Huet w/ your name on it, either in NYC or Seattle, whichever works out first.

Exactly. No matter whether you believe in evolution, Judaism, Christianity, or something else, everyone pretty much agrees that no one started here. We just took different routes to get here.
