Last night, with a light dinner of stirfried green beans in a black bean
sauce, I opened a bottle of 2009 Bernard Baudry Chinon Ros (13% ABV) which had a lovely nose of strawberries and minerals and proved to be delicate, lithe yet fruity and food friendly. I'm glad that we've got another bottle of this, but I think that I'll save it for a better food match.
Earlier, I opened our first bottle of the 2009 Dom. de la Ppire Muscadet SeM sur lie (2nd bottling) which didn't quite live up to the early hype. Great minerality and richer than some of its predecessors, but at least on this night it seemed to lack a bit of verve and focus that I've come to expect from this producer? Still very tasty, and nothing to complain about. Fortunately, we have several more bottles to see if this first impression can be revised upward.
