'96 Coche-Dury Bourgogne rouge

Joe Dougherty
This has a beautiful nose. Evolved underbrush and red fruits. It's delicate, not potent. Light but pretty on the palate, it has nice balance and has no '96 acidity problem.

Glad I bought this, but if you have any I wouldn't keep them forever.

The '99 and '02 are beautiful now and show no signs of decay.

funny, I was just cleaning out junk from the closet a few minutes ago, and found an empty bottle of the '85, which was consumed in 1999 if I am not mistaken, and was gorgeous enough to have saved the relic

Just the right age, I guess.

The 2000 was magnificent a few weeks ago. I was proud of my blind diagnosis, not that I like blind tasting-'this is not even slightly grand but it's fantastic.'

I never tried the straight Bourgogne but I do remember buying the Auxey-Duresses from time to time for a relative song. Those days are long gone now with the Auxey going for $100 plus. No interest on my end at that price.
