1977 Boscarelli Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Pop and pour, no decant. Starts off with tons of blood, leather and rotting wood / rotting fruit. Acidity is lively. With time this really picks up luscious sweet dried red fruit and really rounds out. Perhaps a bit long in the tooth but a very gracefully aged, very classy beauty. Straight up delicious and a very easy bottle to drain. Was still gaining strength at the last sip after about 90 minutes. Next time I will stand this up further ahead of time and pull the cork an hour or two before serving.
Paid $25 for this a year ago or so and have the better part of a case of other 70s era Chianti, Vino Nobile and Brunello from the same lot. This first bottle bodes well!
