01 Clos Rougeard Poyeaux

Interesting wine, hard to get a handle on. At opening, tight, so I decanted. Here second night, oak is present and not fully integrated, a little bitter, cinnamon. I agree with Slaton that this is still too young - I would give this a good five years yet. The 00 base cuvee I had a month or so ago seriously outclassed this, at least right now.

Well, this doesn't strike me as closed, rather just young, but since you must have had it recently so as to form your judgement, I'll defer to you.

Not having had the wine recently, it will show wood when the fruit is closed down. Should be a bit of a step up from 2000.

This is definitely showing wood, worse 2nd day.

There is more heft here than the 00 but that sure is good now.

Alas, but as expected. Sure wish I'd bought some of that '00 when I had the chance, though.

'01 Clos is drinking pretty well now, if you have any.
