Ribolla Gialla 2007 Movia Brda, Slovenia
It's been too long since I have had something from Movia, but it jumped off of the shelf and into my basket when shopping for Thanksgiving shopping. The in-laws never had a chance with this one. My note from dinner.
In the glass: Fresh yellow apple with hints of fennel and a touch of vanilla spice. On the palate, pears, green apple are at the fore but gives way to nuttiness and the slightest hint of oxidation on the back palate. Acidity is moderate as is the texture and body. This wine unfolds in the glass after being open for a little while. Green apple and pears wrapped in cinnamon and vanilla spice comes through after being open for an hour or so. Hints of manzanilla sherry and peaty notes fill out the finish. A delight for $23.
