Speaking of plastic...I miss the 80s

One of my fondest memories of the music business was hanging out at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium many years ago during a Plasmatics soundcheck and hearing Wendy O. Williams screaming at the top of her lungs to the sound mixer "GIMME MORE CHAINSAW IN THE MONITORS!!!!

-Eden (Wendy O. was no Natalia Paruz on the saw but she made quite an impression)

and "fishing for wall-eyed pike with wendy o. williams" was one of my favorite episodes of "The Fishin' Musician" on SCTV.

Ah, yes, the legendary WOW. I saw the Plasmatics a couple of times, in Pasadena and maybe somewhere in Hollywood, back in '79-'81. WOW was overdressed in that Youtube vid, but that probably was the result of Japanese mores judging from its provenance. She was quite the... uh... performer, but to my mind just Fee Waybill updated a generation. De gustibus.

The thing I remember from that episode was Gil Fisher sitting placidly in his chair, nodding along with the mayhem that eventually destroyed the inside of his cabin. (John Candy is much missed.) My recollection is that the last scene was the "exterior" of the cabin (actually a Lincoln Log construction) with smoke pouring out through every crack.

Fee Waybill went fishin' with Gil, too.
